This raises some interesting questions about the late golden/early silver age versions of the character presented in the Lois Lane and Jimmy Olsen comics (also known as the "Superman's a dick" era).

Once a god has done his job and defeated evil, is it his prerogative to toy with mortals? Does it even make sense to think of this as "right" or "wrong?"

There are eerie similarities between the way Superman treated Lana and Lois back in the day and the way the Greek gods acted towards mortals.
